How to Use a Peptide Pen: Step-by-Step Guide

ORYN peptide pens are pre-mixed and ready to use — no reconstitution required. Before your first use, ensure:

1. The pen has been stored correctly at 2-8°C (refrigerator temperature) 2. Check the expiry date printed on the pen label 3. Inspect the solution — it should be clear and colourless. Do not use if cloudy or discoloured 4. Allow the pen to reach room temperature for 15-30 minutes before use 5. Ensure you have pen needles — ORYN pens use standard pen needles (31G or 32G recommended)

1. Remove the pen cap 2. Wipe the pen tip with an alcohol swab 3. Attach a new sterile pen needle by screwing it onto the pen tip 4. Remove the outer needle cap (keep it for disposal later) 5. Remove the inner needle cap and discard

Important: Always use a new, sterile needle for each administration. Never reuse needles.

Priming removes air from the needle and ensures accurate dosing:

1. Dial the dose selector to 2 units 2. Hold the pen with the needle pointing upward 3. Tap the pen cartridge gently to move any air bubbles to the top 4. Press the injection button until a drop of liquid appears at the needle tip 5. If no drop appears, repeat the priming step

Note: Priming is typically only needed before the first use or if the pen has been stored without a needle attached.

1. Turn the dose dial to your desired dose (as per your research protocol) 2. The dose window will display the selected number of units 3. You will hear and feel clicks as you dial — each click represents a precise unit 4. If you dial too far, simply turn the dial back to the correct dose

1. Clean the administration site with an alcohol swab 2. Pinch the skin at the site to create a fold 3. Insert the needle at a 90° angle into the skin fold 4. Press the injection button fully and hold for 10 seconds 5. Release the skin fold 6. Withdraw the needle 7. Do not rub the site — apply gentle pressure if needed

Common administration sites for subcutaneous research: abdomen (2 inches from navel), upper thigh, back of upper arm. Rotate sites between administrations.

1. Replace the outer needle cap carefully (one-handed scoop technique recommended) 2. Unscrew and safely dispose of the used needle in a sharps container 3. Replace the pen cap 4. Return the pen to the refrigerator (2-8°C)

Never store the pen with a needle attached, as this can allow air to enter the cartridge and affect dosing accuracy.
